Proposed Planning Scheme Amendment For Housing In Mornington Peninsula

The Mornington Peninsula Shire have released their proposed housing planning scheme amendment (C219) out for public exhibition and comment. Over recent times Mornington Peninsula Shire has made a number of controversial planning decisions, which you can read more about here. Last year the Council published a Housing Refresh strategy, which saw some stability come back to planning decisions.

This planning scheme amendment is now the next stage of their housing strategy. They are seeking to overall the current residential zones and overlays throughout the municipality, removing redundant controls and (hopefully) creating more streamlined and consistent planning controls overall.

There are a significant number of both schedules to zones and overlays that are proposed to be introduced. If you have a property on the peninsula or interest in the future of housing and development you can view more details on the amendment here, including details of information sessions.

Submissions are open till Friday the 29th October 2021.
