Read on to hear about some recent planning projects and amendments happening in Kingston Council that I think are of interest or relevance to many of my clients. This page will be updated from time to time as new news comes up.
2023
Housing Update
Kingston Council have approved an amendment to the Planning Scheme to make widespread changes to zones and overlays throughout the municipality. The changes reflect the Housing Strategy and Neighbourhood Character Study that was adopted by the Council in 2021. The amendment has been submitted to the Minister for authorisation and is awaiting approval as of September 2023.
Heritage Amendment
Kingston Council have approved an amendment to the Planning Scheme to introduce a permanent Heritage Overlay to 86 Menton Parade, Mentone. The amendment has been submitted to the Minister and is awaiting approval as of 20 December 2023. There is currently an interim Heritage Overlay on the site that is due to expire mid 2024.
